More Videos: Simon Conway Morris and Ken Miller Redux
Here are two more videos on evolution for your viewing pleasure. The second video is by Kenneth Miller, the famed biologist from Brown. The first video is by the somewhat less well known (in the States) Simon Conway Morris, Professor of Evolutionary Paleobiology at Cambridge, and elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1990. Morris, a Christian, has a fascinating book out (the topic of which is covered somewhat in the lecture here) that I am currently finishing up called Life's Solutions: Inevitable Humans in a Lonely Universe which I will hopefully write about some when I finish it. Morris is not as clear of a writer as Miller, but to be fair he is not targeting the broader audience that Miller is with his two books. Still, Morris has that wonderful British charm as he writes, and his book is full of humor and witty one-liners, along with some great analogies and examples (at one part of the book he pines wistfully that there is so much nebular alcohol in the universe one could make an indefinite amount of Martinis the size of the Atlantic Ocean). So without further ado, here are two more videos. Enjoy!
