And Now For Something (Not Really) Different

Joey from The Charismanglican pointed out an article published yesterday by Cavanaugh which is actually on the myth of religious violence and in particular is an argument leveled against that pugnacious breed of neo-atheists, most particularly in this case Christopher Hitchens, with the pretty amusing tagline (which is also used in the small section on Hitchens in ch.4 of Cavanaugh's book) that essentially Hitchen's argument (with "typical british understatement" says Cavanaugh wryly) that "Religion Poisons Everything," is for Hitchens, true, because "everything poisonous thereby is treated as religion." You can find the article here, and it is an excellent addition to ABC's Religion and Ethics section, and also does a great job of summarizing many of the main points of Cavanaugh's book in a much more immediately reader friendly format. At any rate it serves as an excellent supplement to Cavanaugh's book, which Ill continue to blog about in the upcoming days.
